better than a madeleine
How could I have forgotten to mention the visit to the Lush store?
The Dream Cream is especially fab, highly recommended. Also, got assorted bubble bath and bombs and Slammer (my fave) shower gel, oh, and Narcotik, too.
I heart Lush.
It's probably best there's not one nearby. And yes, ordering online or via post is fine, but I prefer browsing and sniffing to cataloguing this stuff.

I also heart Lush.
They opened one in Herald Square (after we discovered them in Canada last summer) and I stop in almost once a week. The girls/ladies who work there know who I am. It's almost embarassing.
When we were in Boston for Worldcon we went to the Lush there. And, we went to three or four Lushs in London this summer when we visited.
If we know we're going to be in the same place, I can pick some stuff up for you. :)
Or if you come to NY, we can go to the store.

Lush addicts anonymous! I love the idea of meeting at conventions to exchange Lush paper bags.

We even got invited to a customer appreciation day in New York (where we got to meet all sorts of big people, like Auntie Pamela, the guy who runs the North American operations, etc., and got free fresh product!), and I have a button: Fresh Cult Couture.
Two recommendations: BB Seaweed and Cupcake, both fresh products (face masks), but after you use them you'll feel like you've had ten hours of sleep and your favorite cup of coffee.

Wow -- I'm so jealous! I never get to sample the fresh stuff because I'm afraid it'll spoil before I get it home.
I just love the fact that they put the stickers with the little cartoon renderings and the names of the people who made the product. if I find, say, a finger in my Dream Cream I know that Bernita is going to be one fired cosmetic technician.
