feels like a reunion tour, but a strange one

There's another confabulation going on over at David Moles' place. This time it's a polite cage match about the slippery definitions of slipstream.

    Wow. Look at ... all those words ... being typed ... so ... fast.

    For me all this falls under the "why labels are nigh meaningless" rubric. It's funny that rigor is being spoken of so much in the discussion, because Bruce's original methods weren't particularly rigorous. A lot of the books on his original slipstream list were suggested by other SycHill attendees (this was before my time, but Bruce was thinking out loud about his slipstream idea and got other folks to suggest titles). So while it's good to see folks now going back to Bruce's original essay in SFEye, it's funny because that's not a particularly solid foundation...
