escovedos past and present and otherwise

The WP reviews the new Alejandro Escovedo tribute album, giving it extraordinarily high marks. I'm not surprised, considering how good Sally Timms and Jon Langford doing "Broken Bottle" was on the radio the other morning, and seeing names like M. Ward, Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams, Son Volt, Calexico, etc. etc. etc. This is going to be brilliant and I want it. Plus, great cause -- Escovedo is one of our finest songwriters.

I've seen him a few times; he visits Lexington pretty often. My favorite time though was probably on his three city tour (Lexington, Chicago and New York) tour with Larry Brown in support of Larry's then new book Billy Ray's Farm. Our local weekly editor, Rhonda Reeves, chatted with both of them and published some letters and other ephemera in a feature piece, archived here.

    thanks for this.
i used to see him live, years ago,
and kind of lost track of him.
